Fair Trade protects children’s rights!
Everyone likes to feel safe, happy, healthy, and cared for. There are things we need to make this happen, for example: you need a warm place to live to feel secure and healthy. You also need food and water, warm clothe s and medicine if you get sick. These needs are also called your rights. All children all over the world share the same rights and Fair Trade helps to protect children’s rights.
Right to play
Although I have to help my family on the farm, I still have plenty of time to play with my friends every day.
Right to health
My family has money to pay for a doctor now in case any of us gets sick. That is thanks to people buying Fair Trade chocolate.
Right to freedom from child labour and slavery
I am lucky that I can stay with my family. My family works in Fair Trade and earns enough money. There are lots of children who aren’t so lucky: they have to work in foreign countries and are often treated like slaves. I am very lucky indeed.
Right to water, food
I don’t have to walk so far for fresh water now because we have a water pump in our village. Fair Trade helped to pay for it.
