1. Most of the children aren’t even 10 years old yet.
2. Most of the children who work live in Asia, Africa and in Latin America. But even in Europe many children are working.
3. Did you know that the majority of child workers are girls?
4. Nearly all child workers do unpaid work at home.
5. Children have to work on plantations where cocoa beans, coffee, oranges, sugar or bananas grow. They work on the street selling sweets and drinks - sometimes they even have to beg. Some children work on rubbish tips where they look for things that they can sell again. Other children work on the streets as shoeblacks .
6. The work that most of the children do is not good for their health because they have to work too hard and too long (often more than 10 hours a day).

8. Nearly every sixth child in the world between 5 and 17 years old has to work. That’s more than 240 million! Only 59 million people live in United Kingdom
9. Did you know that child labour is against the law nearly everywhere in the world? All countries have signed an agreement called The Convention on the Rights of the Child. This agreement says that no child should be forced to work if this work is harmful.
10. Children help to make things like: T-Shirts, chocolate, balls, orange juice, gym shoes, plastic toys and many other things.
11. 2 out of 3 children work on farms. They work on cotton plantations in Egypt or on orange plantations in Brazil. They harvest tea in Nepal or work on cocoa plantations in Ivory Cost.
